Member of DSM Consortium
Known for its vast technological knowledge both in xDSL, Amethyst joined the newly formed consortium of companies led by ECI Telecom plans to develop the technology that will replace VDSL2 - Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM). it will allow for transmission rates across copper lines comparable to those of fiber optics (Passive Optical Network with ATM (APON), 155 Mbits/s in both directions). DSM would thus replace VDSL2, which is currently used in FTTC (fiber to the curb) networks between DSLAM and consumers.
In addition to ECI and Amethyst, the consortium also includes telecommunications providers (such as Bezeq), manufacturers (Actelis), Ceva DSP and research institutes as the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) and the two Israeli universities in Bar Ilan and Tel Aviv.
